Illness Knows No Season: Common Causes For Nausea, Vomiting And Diarrhea

It may seem that certain illnesses only occur during certain seasons, like hay fever in the spring and fall, and the flu, in all its incarnations in the winter. The reality is that most illnesses that have as its symptoms nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, are for the most part viruses that can be around at any given time of the year. By learning more about what can cause these three symptoms, you will be able to forestall it happening to you by taking some very simple precautions.

Common Symptoms

Whenever someone claims to be feeling under the weather, even if they feel just a little sick, more often than not they will be sharing the same symptoms as someone suffering from food poisoning, stomach flu or even some allergic reactions. There are some people who will be healthy all year round, but once they go on vacation, to a new environment, they will fall ill. Like we said, the majority of these cases are viral based, caused by common bacteria and viruses that can strike without warning, no matter what time of year it is.

While most of these maladies share the same top three symptoms, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, you may also show some of the following classic symptoms, depending on the severity of your ailment: stomach pain, headaches, and even dizziness. Should any of these symptoms crop up, we recommend that you seek medical aid as soon as possible. Ignoring symptoms like these for too long can lead to dehydration, or something far more serious.

Common Causes

The most common viral infection that can strike at any moment is known as gastroenteritis, or the stomach flu. It has all the earmarks of the common flu but one symptom in particular is more virulent with this condition: diarrhea. Diarrhea occurs the intestines push the buildup of stool in your body out before the water that naturally occurs during this process can be reabsorbed. When this happens, you will have chronic watery stool, most times accompanied by a fever, vomiting, abdominal cramps and nausea.

During some seasons, especially summer, the chance of your coming down with food poisoning or some other bacteria based illness increases, mostly due to our increased use of water. We swim more, drink more, and eat more things that we normally do not include in our diet. One particular bacterium, the E. Coli bacteria, is especially active during this time of year. Anyone carrying the bacteria on their hands, hair or body can transmit it quite easily, especially if they have recently handled fecal matter, like changing a baby's diaper. Most outbreaks center around public swimming pools in the U.S. and unfiltered or untreated water systems in foreign countries.

Treatment options

The truth of the matter is, should you come down with the stomach flu, or any other viral or bacterial based illness, there is no real course of treatment that can be done for you other than keeping you hydrated and on as bland a diet as possible to give your stomach time to rally and heal. In fact, there are a lot of over-the-counter medicines, as well as antibiotics that can make your condition worse instead of better. Best to listen to your doctor for instructions on at home therapy.

Liquids are very important during this time. Because your body has not had time to reabsorb the water from processing stool, you are losing vital liquids you body needs to survive with every movement. Not to mention all that you lose whenever you vomit. It is recommended that you stick to sucking on ice chips or small sips of water or flat soda.

The BRAT diet

Very simply, the best diet for recovering from nausea, vomiting and diarrhea is the BRAT diet: Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. This diet will not irritate your stomach. Instead it keeps the proteins and other nutrients you need coming and help to reduce stomach acid. If it is a child who is sick, remember that what is good for an adult may not be for a child, so check with your pediatrician first. Avoid dairy, fried, spicy and citrus foods for a while, and no caffeine or alcohol.

Causes of Diabetes Exposed!

Causes of diabetes include excess consumption of sugar and high quantity of refined carbohydrates. Other causes of diabetes can be due to voracious eating, overweight and obesity. This ailment develops in all age categories but it is more frequent among older and middle aged people. As a result of people's eating habits nowadays, there are many cases of this deadly disease compared to what was obtainable some years back.

This ailment will occur in the body as soon as the glucose in the body rises above normal level. This is why it is necessary to eat healthy balanced diet. It is noteworthy that food intake is converted to fat or glucose in the body for availability of energy that allows for daily activities. The pancreas, an organ near the stomach functions for the emission of insulin (hormone that enables glucose to get stored in the body cells).

As soon as the pancreas is not able to function effectively in the production of the required insulin amounts or unable to utilize insulin properly, problem will occur for glucose to get stored in the cells of which the consequence is diabetes because the sugar now gets stored in the blood. Therefore, for this ailment not to occur in the body there must be sufficient insulin levels in the pancreas.

Low levels of insulin in the pancreas will decrease the body's ability to normalize the blood sugar acidity in glucose thereby giving room for diabetes in the body. Pancreatic acid is deposited in the duodenum and go out all the way through the duodenum channel. The work of the duodenum is to ensure that secretions and bile enters it from the liver. Other causes of this disease include; tuberculosis, grief, using a medicine for a long period, nutritional deficiencies, worry, anxiety, high intake of fats and proteins, cerebral disease, consumption of high quantity of refined carbohydrates as well as heredity.

There are many causes of diabetes that people are not even aware of which needs to be identified. This is because this disease is not friendly in any way as it causes more harm than good to its victims if not given early attention. Therefore, all and sundry must endeavor to avoid this deadly ailment as much as possible. The only way by which the disease can be avoided is to identify its causes and guide against those causes. Avoiding its causes will go a long way in controlling the disease.

All About Causes And Symptoms And Other Details Of Sweating Excess Or Hyperhidrosis

You probably have heard about sweating excess or what is medically known as hyperhidrosis, but how do you know if you are suffering from this medical condition? It is not fatal and it does not have any ill effects but the condition itself is quite embarrassing.

If you already have this condition and you would like to know more details about it, you can read through this article and find out many more things that have not been made known to you. Also, if you are not sure if you have hyperhidrosis and you would like to know about the possible causes and symptoms, this article is still the right resource for you.

Hyperhidrosis - How Science Defines It

A medical condition that is called as hyperhidrosis is a very embarrassing condition that makes you sweat uncontrollably. It is quite common especially in the United States, where almost three percent of the whole population in America are affected by it. The most commonly affected body parts reported are the hands, feet, and the underarms. Although there are no fatal effects, people who are suffering from this medical condition are ashamed by how they sweat involuntarily and excessively in public.

The Causes That May Lead to Hyperhidrosis

The causes of hyperhidrosis are quite complex and not that explainable, but in lay men terms, it can be explained as an abnormality in the stimulus given to the sweat glands. This allows them to create more than the sweat needed by the body, causing this medical condition. These stimuli can come from anywhere like the brain, the hypothalamic area that controls temperature, the medullary area that controls involuntary functions, the spinal cord stimuli, nerves, the hormones of the endocrine system, and some pre-existing medical conditions that might cause this symptom. This leads to excessive sweat in the palms, soles, and underarms and other parts of the body that normally do not sweat that much.

The Treatments That Can Stop It All

The medical condition of hyperhidrosis can be controlled and in some cases, stopped and give way to a normal life. With the proper initial step of diagnosis with the right doctor, further assessment can be made in order to find out more about it. When the condition is further assessed, the right combination of treatments as well as medications can help the person suffering from hyperhidrosis stop the symptoms that make the condition so embarrassing. Here are different types of treatment that you can consider talking to with your doctor in order to stop the symptoms.

1. Antiperspirants

Any kind of over the counter antiperspirant can be used to counter the effects of excessive sweat experienced by anyone with hyperhidrosis. You can opt for over the counter products or those recommended by your doctor. Be sure to determine if you have sensitive skin because some antiperspirants are very harsh for sensitive skin. If you want to be sure, you can ask your doctor about which products are available for your skin's needs.

The best antiperspirants are those that contain aluminum chloride because these are found to be effective against excessive sweat in the underarms. There are also antiperspirants that contain a stronger component called aluminium chloride hexahydrate but these are usually used with a prescription from your doctor. Talk to your doctor about these options for antiperspirants.

2. The Process of Iontophoresis

Iontophoresis is an effective way to relieve yourself of the symptoms of hyperhidrosis. Using equipments that drive the medication into the skin faster than taking in prescription drugs, you can effectively reduce the effects. These options may be a little more expensive but if you have the money, you must certainly give it a try to see its effectiveness. Talk to your physician before undergoing the process because he or she might have certain contraindications to discuss with you regarding the process of undergoing iontophoresis.

3. Oral Drugs for Hyperhidrosis

There are some prescription drugs that are specifically made for those with hyperhidrosis. These contain anticholinergics that reduce the symptoms of sweating for anyone who is suffering from excessive sweat or hyperhidrosis. These are slightly stronger than antiperspirants so if you want this kind of effect, you can talk to your doctor about this option. There are different types of this kind of medication so be sure to obtain your doctor's advice first, and of course, the prescription.

4. Surgery for Severe Hyperhidrosis

For those who are suffering from severe cases of hyperhidrosis, there is a surgery to help eradicate it completely. It is called cervical sympathectomy and it is usually only reserved as a last resort o r for those who really are suffering from severe sweating excess.

The Top 5 Causes Of Excessive Sweating

Hello everyone. For this article, I am going to share my list of the top 5 causes of excessive sweating. I have dealt with excessive sweating frequently over the last few years. It all started when I was around 15-16 years old. It quickly became something I was very self conscience about. Over the years, I have learned a lot about it and done a lot of research about why I (and millions of other people) sweat so much. This is the list I have come up with of the top 5 causes of excessive sweating.

5. Anxiety

Do you suffer from anxiety? Do you get anxious easily? How do you handle it? Anxiety can be a major cause of sweating. This is because anxiety is a bit more difficult to control. If you are working out and you are sweating, then you can stop. But if you are anxious, you may not be able to stop the anxiety, leading to excessive sweating. If you find yourself dealing with frequent anxiety, talk to a doctor!

4. Sickness

Another major cause of excessive sweating can be due to a sickness. If you have the flu or have a fever, this can definitely lead to sweating. Remember to see a doctor if you are too sick!

3. Medications

If you have recently started taking a new medication, this could be the cause of your sweating. Many medications have side effects that include sweating. If you noticed they started around the same time, that may be your answer!

2. Primary Focal Hyperhidrosis

You might be wondering what this is. Well, Primary Focal Hyperhidrosis according to WebMD affects up to 1-3% of the population and it generally starts in your childhood. It generally affects specific body parts though, such as your hands or feet. Researchers believe it has to do with a minor problem in the nervous system. It's not serious though, so don't sweat it. No pun intended! Okay, maybe it was intended.

1. General Hyperhidrosis

And finally, we come to the number 1, general hyperhidrosis! This is just like Primacy Focal Hyperhidrosis, only it makes your entire body sweat. Like above, it's not serious, but it can sure be a pain!

I hope this list of the top 5 causes for excessive sweating has helped you! Once you understand why you may be sweating excessively, you can begin to work on preventing it from happening! Good luck!
