Stress and Insufficient Rest Affects Your Health and Weight

With irregular sleeping patterns and a constant stream of new beds and sleeping environments, it's easy to see how the business traveler might be lacking some shuteye. This creates a vicious circle of constant tiredness that leads to stress, and stress can contribute to lack of sleep. You drink coffee to stay awake but then the caffeine keeps you awake and dehydrates you! Yet, getting the best sleep possible can make a tremendous difference to your quest for a healthy lifestyle.

Scientists have been aware of a phenomenon known as First Night Effect for several years now. This is a common issue for all travelers - not being able to sleep well in a new and unfamiliar place. The name of this condition would suggest it is only the "first" night that a traveler may experience the lack of sleep, but some people never truly sleep well in new places.

A connected condition is called On-Call Effect, where stress keeps you so wound up that you are constantly breaking out of REM sleep. It doesn't take a genius to realize that not getting enough rest will not only affect your stress levels, but also your health.

Of course one of the compounding issues is, once again, TIME. If you are on a crazy schedule, getting on and off planes at ungodly hours, you are not exactly keeping a regular sleep schedule. Some people can sleep on a plane, others cannot. We all know there is nowhere to rest comfortably in an airport! Backpackers may curl up in a corner on the floor but I doubt you will find a professional doing that.

With business travel, even within the boundaries of the United States itself, comes the crossing of time zones. A three hour time difference from East to West may not seem like a lot, but again, the constant disruption to sleeping patterns, and shifting of time zones can play havoc on your health - more so if you travel to outbound regions such as Hawaii or even Puerto Rico.

Other physiological repercussions must be considered. Your hormones are affected by inadequate sleep, particularly leptin and ghrelin. Ghrelin is a hormone that signals your brain it's hungry. Leptin does the opposite and tells the brain the body is full, or satiated. When you are sleep deprived, leptin often decreases, and the ghrelin increases, leaving you to feel hungry and unsatiated when what you actually need is sleep. Thus, getting adequate sleep is also part of your battle against overeating. Overall, In other words, not getting enough rest can also have serious affects on your health.

Some Tips for a Better Sleep While on the Road:

* Find ways to bring home "with" you.
* Exercise
* Meditate

The ABC of Bone Marrow Transplant

Bone Marrow transplantation is a relatively new medical procedure where stem cells from the bone marrow are taken out and filtered to be given back either to the same person or another person. Being the main blood cell factory of the body, heart and soul forms a very critical part of human body. It is used to treat several diseases today that were considered to be incurable earlier. Since the first bone marrow transplant that was successfully done in 1968, this procedure has been used to cure aplastic anemia, leukemia, multiple myeloma, immune deficiency disorders, lymphomas such as Hodgkin's disease, and some solid tumors such as ovarian and breast cancer. Even though thousands of patients undergo BMT each year in the United States itself, more than double the number of people are not able to get BMT done due to unavailability of a suitable heart and soul donor.

Now we come to the basic question: why BMT? In patients with any of the diseases mentioned above, either a large number of defective or immature blood cells are produced (in the case of leukemia), or there is an exceedingly low blood count (in the case of aplastic anemia). These defective blood cells accumulate in the blood cell and interfere with their function, or even invade other tissues. These abnormal blood cells can be destroyed by large doses of radiation or chemotherapy, which can even destroy normal blood cells in the bone marrow. A bone marrow transplant can be used by the doctors to treat abnormal blood cells with radiation and replace the damaged bone marrow with new one. Even though, BMT does not guarantee against recurrence of the disease, but can help the patient enjoy a healthier life for a prolonged period of time.

A transplant of any sorts is accompanied with several complications and is a harrowing experience to say the least. For a BMT, a patient has to be physically and mentally healthy enough to undergo the rigors of this complicated procedure. A battery of tests is conducted before the transplant and then after it to make sure that the body has not been impaired in any way. vegetable marrow transplant is conducted by an expert team of doctors and nurses who specialize in this particular procedure. In this case, doctors also need to provide physical and psychological support to the patient and his family, before, during and even after the bone marrow transplant.

Fibromyalgia - What Is It And Can Heat Therapy Wheat Bags Help?

Fibromyalgia is a medical term and is derived from three terms; fibro which means fibrous tissues such as ligaments and tendons, my which means muscles and algia pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition which is associated with lots of aching, and burning of the muscles causing joint fatigue which can either be mild or severe. The prevalence of this condition in European countries is anywhere from 2.9% to 4.7% making it as common if not more than rheumatoid arthritis.

Fibromyalgia is a disorder which causes lots of pain and fatigue. The majority of people who suffer from this condition have a number of tender points. These are referred to areas on the body usually the arms, shoulders, legs, hips and neck that hurt every time pressure is applied on them. In addition there are other symptoms that serious affect a person's overall quality of life.

Symptoms of Fibromyalgia

Not everyone who has this condition will necessarily suffer from the same symptoms. The pain may either affect the whole body or it may be severe in just a few areas. The most difficult symptom which many people find hard to manage is chronic fatigue which is associated with this disease. The other symptoms include mild depression, tingling, poor concentration, and numbness. People may also experience difficulty from waking up during the night. There are also many people who will experience fibro fog which is a memory and cognitive problem. However the overall severity of these symptoms will vary quite a bit through the day.

Diagnosis of Fibromyalgia

However the problem with this condition is that there aren't any tests which can conclusive diagnose it. Doctors will normally perform a number of routine tests to rule out other conditions with similar symptoms such as chronic fatigue, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. There is definitely a correlation between mental health disorders such as depression and fibromyalgia.

The Causes of Fibromyalgia

The exact causes of fibromyalgia are still not known even though medical researchers have put forth a number of theories. Some of the factors involve stress or even traumatic events, repetitive injuries, genetics and illness. People who have rheumatoid arthritis or even lupus may be more open to this condition. Women are around seven times more likely to develop fibromyalgia as compared to men and some researchers believe it is because of hormonal imbalances or low serotonin levels in the brain. Some researchers believe it may be spinal and brain injuries that cause this condition while others think it is caused by a substance P.

Controlling Fibromyalgia Symptoms

The treatment of fibromyalgia is often very problematic since it causes lots of unknown diseases. This is a chronic condition and much of the medication to relieve pain does have side effects if used for an extended period of time. However the majority of doctors recommend that their patience get regular exercise, a healthy diet and relaxation to manage their symptoms. Anti-inflammatories are ineffective since they is no inflammation reported in fibromyalgia.

Heat Therapy for Fibromyalgia Symptoms

Heat therapy is a very old remedy for muscular pain. This works because it improves circulation and helps get oxygenated blood to the muscles which relieves cramps and promotes relaxation. When you apply wheat bags or heat pads it can help to relive muscle pain in people who are suffering from fibromyalgia. Microwave heat pads and wheat bags are relatively inexpensive and can help provide a great deal of relief from the pain and help relieve stress which contributes to the condition.

Heat Therapy works to reduce the pain signals sent to the brain by the affected nerve. In addition heat also improves circulation and reduces discomfort and pain. Heat therapy also helps to relax the muscles which allows for better sleep.

There is no known cure for fibromyalgia but like all other chronic conditions a good healthy lifestyle can help reduce the flare ups and control the symptoms. Using microwave heat pads, wheat bags and heat therapy can help to alleviate the pain and promote further relaxation all without the harmful effects of prescription medication. Most people suffering from fibromyalgia will lead normal and productive lives.

Visit Zhu-Zhu for additional information on how a wheat bag can help to ease and sooth pain related to Fibromyalgia. Advice and help on getting the most out of heat therapy as a method to relieve pain and treat stiff and painful joints and muscles is available along with help choosing a microwavable heat pack from the extensive range available online.

Is Your Baby Sick Because of a Birth Trauma?

Many new Moms and Dads will ask if it is possible for an infant to be misaligned during the birth process. Good question!

Modern birthing methods of having the Mom push the baby out without gravity working to your advantage, laying flat on your back is a prescription for increased force into the head and neck of the baby in and of itself. But then you introduce all the drugs used during the birth process, which includes an epidural which numbs the area that a woman typically would feel when pushing. And the introduction of drugs like pitocin to induce delivery often before the baby is ready for delivery, can lead to prolonged labors and an increase likelihood of birth trauma. Also practice of a doctor pulling during delivery with 50-70 pounds of force into the infant's head from the birth canal and instruments like forceps and vacuum extraction can lead to a variety of different birth injuries.

So much so that women are told things like "yes your baby fractured their clavicle during the birth process, but that is normal."

What?! What is normal about a fracture during birth? It may be common...but that doesn't make it normal.

Now an important consideration is that not all infants are misaligned. In fact, in my experience even with the severity of forces that are used in the majority of American births, most babies are not misaligned. On average, of the babies that I have checked over the years only about 10-20% are misaligned at birth.

But if a child is misaligned at birth it is critical to get that misalignment corrected as soon as possible.

A misalignment of the Atlas, the top bone in the neck (the most likely bone to misalign during the birth process) has been linked to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, colic, ear infections, acid reflux and many other neurological conditions related to brain stem dysfunction and accompanying symptoms.

So what are some ways that a parent may assess their own child to determine if their baby should be evaluated for an upper neck misalignment?

The easiest situation would be if your child begins to develop symptoms of any kind. Such as ear infections. If a child is having ear infections a frequent cause is a misalignment in the upper neck that leads to poor drainage of the ears because the nerves that control the ears begin in the upper neck.

Or if your baby has colic. Colic is frequently related to a vagus nerve irritation from an upper neck misalignment during birth. Once the misalignment is corrected. The colic often will go away immediately.

Or a variety of other symptoms that most pediatricians and parents will think that the child needs medications to cover up rather than seeking the underlying cause.

But if you have a seemingly healthy child who has not developed any symptoms yet then you can look at a few different things. Such as when the baby lays flat on their back do they have a tendency to always have their head turned in one direction? Or can you feel if the musculature in the lower back area near the pelvis is symmetrical from side to side? Or can you feel that one side is much tighter than the other?

If you are unsure about any of these things find a local upper cervical chiropractor in your area to check your baby as soon as possible. It can make all the difference in the world for the growth, development and the health of your son or daughter.

The other wonderful aspect of finding problems early in the life of your child is that the frequency needed of an adjustment. A infant corrected at birth of within the first year of life may be able to hold that one adjustment for months if not years. So get your kids checked...they really is no downside to having a properly aligned spinal column and properly functioning brain and nerve system.

Dr. William R. Davis Jr., D.C. is a Vista Chiropractor and Upper Cervical Specialist. He is in private practice in Southern California in the city of Vista. He specializes in correcting problems in the upper cervical spine (upper neck). This vital area is intimately connected to the central nervous system and problems in this area have been shown to be an underlying cause of a variety of different health problems. Pipette and Its Types

A pipette, also known as a chemical dropper, is used for transferring a measured proportion of liquid. This device is utilized in analytical chemistry, molecular biology as well as for carrying multiple medical examinations. This device is obtainable in various forms, shapes and sizes which are used with varying levels of precision and accuracy. In order to carry out all kinds of clinical examinations with high precision and to obtain error free results, these devices are used in all clinical laboratories.

Pipetteis available in multiple forms and is used for carrying multiple operations. From single piece glazed units to more intricate electronic and adjustable designs, these units are obtainable in various forms. Although the basic functioning of every form of pipette is same but depending upon accuracy of result required, most advance devices are used. A partial vacuum is created by these devices above the chamber which is used to hold the liquid and then appropriate amount of vacuum is released in order to draw the liquid above. Same methodology is used by all pipettes for dispensing multiple forms of liquids. While simplified pipettes are used for testing less vital liquids, the more advanced versions are employed for carrying testing of liquids that require highest precision in results.

There are two types of pipettes available depending on the volume of liquid being dispensed by them. The one which dispenses 1 and 1000 ul amount of liquid is called as micropipettes while other used for dispensing volume more than this amount is known as macro-pipettes. Based on these two types, there are two other forms of pipette - positive displacement units and air displacement units. Normally, pipettes which are air based are used for carrying functionalities of micropipettes while latter is used for testing liquids with high volume. The amount of liquid which is to be displaced through this unit is set with help of a readable meter available on these units.

There are multiple forms of these units available which can be selected by individuals depending upon volume of liquid to be tested. Adjustable, fixed, single-channel, repeater, multi-channel, volume handled, locking, electronic, manufacturer, standard are some of the forms of this pipette which can be obtained by individuals. In addition to this, there are graduated pipette, Pasteur pipette and volumetric pipette as well those which are easily obtainable for carrying on high precision examinations. The best fact about these entire multiple forms available is that even if individuals are using it for the first time, they can use it without any hassle.

A pipette is available with various forms of accessories which are used for carrying on the complete testing process. These accessories are fillers, dispensers, pipette tips and pipetting systems. Each of these accessories possesses a unique functionality and is therefore used in testing procedure, if required. Zeptoliter pipette is the smallest form of pipette available which is made of carbon shell along with a gold alloy. Pipette is the most important device without which any examination is not possible and for this reason only qualitative pipettes must be selected by individuals.

Body Fat Percentage Calculator: Your Keep-Fit Companion

A body fat percentage calculator isn't just for athletes. This is an ideal companion for anybody concerned with getting fit and staying healthy.

Why You Should Use One

A body fat percentage calculator lets you calculate how much fat you've actually lost. When you're sticking to your work out religiously, it can be frustrating if you feel you're not making any progress. By using a calculator, you might be pleasantly surprised.

If you just weigh yourself on scales, you're weighing muscle as well. Building up muscle is great, but it will cause you to be heavier even though you're healthier. For example, you could think you've only lost 10 pounds when in fact you actually lost 30 pounds of fat but gained 20 pounds of muscle.

How It Works

First of all, you need to take a number of body measurements. These include not only your height and weight but also your waist, neck, and, if you're female, your hips. This is what the body fat percentage calculator will use in order to calculate your fat.

How much percentage is healthy depends on your sex. For women, a healthy percentage is between 14 and 17 percent. Females who score 30 percent or more are considered obese. For men, 14 to 17 percent is ideal. Obesity in men is 20 percent or more. Competitive athletes, regardless of gender, aim for 6 to 13 percent.

Maintaining a Healthy Weight

A body fat chart is a great way to see how healthy you really are. It's what you refer to when you want to calculate fat. This is a tool used by professional nutritionists and other health experts to figure out if a patient is overweight or not.

Once you've calculated your body fat using a percentage calculator, you can refer to the chart. Men and women have different charts due to the fact that they contain different levels of fat when healthy. In general, the chart has five columns: essential fat, obese, acceptable, fitness, and athletes. A number of charts will contain age bracket, obese, overweight, healthy, and underweight. If you check down a column, you'll find the percentages. You can then use your figure and see which column it's under.

The best column to be under is fitness. But if you want to be truly toned, you should be headed for the athlete column. But, aiming for the average percentage is ideal. If you're overweight, you can see that you need to shed a few pounds. If you fall under the obese column, you need to seriously consider the next steps you should take to lose weight.

If you're dieting, a body fat calculator is a great indicator as to how much fat you've lost. A body fat chart indicates how healthy you are. A body fat percentage calculator is a simple way to figure out how fit you are. It's quick and easy to download and is a much better indicator as to how much fat you should lose.

How Electric Field Therapy Saved a Life

Many years ago someone very close to me was diagnosed with a type of blood disorder call Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML), which is a type of cancer of the white blood cells. It is a form of leukemia characterized by the increased and unregulated growth of predominantly myeloid cells in the bone marrow and the accumulation of these cells in the blood.

This article tells the story of her life, and in hope that by sharing her story, it can help saved others who experience the same predicament as her.

She is just a normal person with a normal life and a simple lifestyle like yours and mine. Her only woe was her immune system was constantly low and as a result she falls sick easily. She also had a tonsillectomy when she was 24 years old. After the tonsillectomy her level immunity dropped even further. She could not go near within a foot of anyone that is sick, even a simple flu or cough. If she does, she will immediately catch it and she will fall sick for at least a week. She was constantly on medications and constantly consuming supplement like Vitamins B, C and E daily. One of her unhealthy habits was she was a person who doesn't like to consume much water. Her water intake daily is less than a liter a day.

She was also not a very active person. Although she wasn't an active person, she was not overweight either. She worked as a primary school teacher, teaching English to students from the rural areas where English is not the mother tongue. Her work was often very stressful.

She was first diagnosed with CML when she was 55 years old, right out from retirement. It all started with a high fever. Her fever was about 38.5 degree and it could not subside. She was admitted to the hospital as the doctor's fear that she has contracted dengue. When the blood test result came out the doctor was surprised. Her white blood counts were off the roof! What followed was series of blood test and a bone marrow test. The result came out positive for CML. According to the doctors, she was a lucky woman. At the time she was diagnosed, her CML was still at a very early stage. They told her that she could live up to at least 5 years with the help of oral chemotherapy.

That was the beginning of the years of oral chemotherapy. Year by year her cancer grew so does the consumption of the oral chemotherapy drugs. First, it started with one pill a day, then it became two then finally increase to six pills a day. Then when the cancer got immune to the drug, the doctors changed her medication, each time the level of chemo increases, and again the cycle repeats. 12 years went by, it was the year 2009. Her condition deteriorated further where the cancer moved into the final accelerated phase. She was unresponsive to any chemotherapy drugs. At that point of time, there were no other drugs in the market that she has not tried, except for one, which was a trial drug. To be accepted into the trail drug program, she had to undergo weeks of testing and the doctors fed her with more drugs to stabilize her condition and to meet the minimal requirement to qualify for the program. Finally, with much hardship and 3 months of non-stop lab test she was accepted into the program. Sometimes, I really wonder if it was blessings or a cursed

Again the same story repeats. First she was consuming two pills a day for the first month but her cancer was not showing signs of improvements. So it increases to finally 6 a day. This was when the doctors stopped her pills. Her body could not take it anymore. Her blood platelets dropped to 6K which way below critical. Her gums and eyes started bleeding. Her body suffered internal bleeding. Black patches from all over her body and her body weight dropped from 45 kilograms to 35 kilograms. She grew as white as a sheet of bleached paper. She was so weak that even simple activity like walking was difficult and she was confined to her bed most of the time. She was admitted to the hospital weekly for blood transfusion. Even though she undergone blood transfusion (minimum 2 -4 packets) weekly, her platelets counts could not go above the critical level. The body could not keep the blood platelets alive and her white blood counts continue to increases. At this point the doctors gave up on her! They told her husband that there is nothing more "they" can do for her as with or without treatment, she will die!

At this point her family was desperate. They started looking for alternative treatment to help her. They tried many other traditional treatments including herbs but to no avail. Thank God, they were introduced to Electric Field Therapy, using a treatment machine call eLIFE?.

She tried the therapy for a mere 5 treatment in 2 days and a miracle happened! Her platelets counts shot up to 30K! It was a count that no one even dared to dream off. For the first time in many months, she had not need to undergo blood transfusion. I could still remember that 2 days as I was beside her during her therapy and the day of her check up. I could still clearly see the smile in her eyes and the happiness in her voice and those of her other family members. Everyone was so happy. We shed tears of joy!

Since that day, the family purchased a unit of the eLIFE? therapy machine for her and she has been doing her treatment every day. Now after 1.5 year since the first day of her treatment, her condition is almost back to normal. Her platelet counts is almost 120k, her white blood counts are under control with the help of a very mild dose of oral chemotherapy (6 pills per week), she had put on back her missing 10 kilograms of weight and she is no more as pale as a ghost.

She is also leading a normal and healthier lifestyle now. She consumes at least 3 liters of water a day and exercises daily. Her eyes, gums and the internal bleeding have stopped. All the black patches on her body are gone and the best of all she could continue to do all the things that she loved! Her family celebrated her recovery by having a feast in a restaurant. A meal, they had not been enjoyed since the day she fell sick 12 years ago.

This is one of the miraculous recoveries that I have seen from users of eLIFE?. There are many more that I will not be able to share in this article.

I hope my story has brought hope to people who are facing the same or similar fate. Times have changed, so have technology. I believe one should always look for alternative and not put all their trust solely on medical science.

If you would like to know more about eLIFE? or if you have any other questions about Electric Field Therapy or even if you would like to listen to more about other miraculous recoveries that I have seen with the use of EFT through eLIFE?, please visit my website http://www.whyeft.com/ and drop me a note.

PS: She is now 68 years old. Bless her and may she have many more long years ahead of her.

Who Wants to Know About Better Health and Self Motivation?

Are you reading it everywhere? Is the slogan about bettering your health popping up in conversations? It happened to me that way. First I didn't even know what people were talking about - nothing to do with me - or has it?

Next thing friends talk about getting motivated to better their health and their diets, and so it went on and on until finally I had a closer look at my own health and life - and yes, I realized bettering my health sure would not be a bad idea!

So the next question presents itself: how do I get past the drudgery of it all? It sounds so boring and hard work! And do I really want to go on a diet? No! And anyway, I don't really have the time to put into my health - so much to do at work.

You may have a fantastic career that pays you oodles of money and affords you great prestige within the community. If you are using your job as an excuse to not be healthy, however, then this dream job of yours can turn into a nightmare. Here is the truth: jobs can come and go, no matter how secure you feel or how much time and effort you put into your career

'If you sacrifice your health for a job then you're really setting yourself up for a bad situation' very true, so I had a read of several self improvement books and actually enjoyed it! Low and behold - there were many good ideas! Nothing exotic at all - very common sense and easily implemented even into my busy life style.

One thing that stood out though: no matter how great the ideas are, if I can't manage to motivate myself to actually DO something, no matter how easy or common sense the idea - it will do nothing for me!

I didn't have to change my whole life around; I just had to set achievable goals, figure out where I wanted to be health wise, find out what better health actually means to me - not to my friends, not to Hollywood actors - but for me myself.

So, what is your excuse not to look at your situation and motivate yourself?

No time because of your kids? No time because you work too much?

The healthier you are the better parent/worker you can be.

You're more effective in what you do when you can do it with a healthy body. You are more patient and understanding towards your children if you are feeling good within yourself.

Appendicectomy - The Surgery and Methods

The removal of the vermiform appendix from the body by medical surgery is called appendicectomy. Through evolution of the human body, the vermiform-appendix has lost its functionality and is only a vestigial appendage now. It is attached near the caecum, which is a pouch at the end of the large intestine. So, in short, the appendix lies between the large and the small intestine. It is a harmless projection in the body. However, sometimes an inflammation may occur and cause appendicitis.

Acute appendicitis is treated by removal of the appendix by appendicectomy; also known as appendisectomy or appendectomy. This procedure is generally performed on the patient in an emergency condition. In an acute state, the affected appendix may result in severe pain, vomiting, fever and disturbed bowels. In an unattended appendicitis state the person can suffer from a Circulatory Shock. This is a life threatening medical problem when body tissues face lack of blood supply. The inflamed appendix may initiate such irregularities and may lead to the rupture of the inner lining that protects the abdominal cavity.

Besides surgery, intravenous treatment is provided to the sufferer at times when a medical procedure can not be performed immediately. The use of antibiotics delays the spread of the infection. If such a precaution is not taken, then there is a possibility of Systematic Inflammatory Response Syndrome affecting the entire body. The whole-body may begin to reach an inflammatory-state and consequently, even fatality is possible.

The two scientific ways in which appendicectomy is performed are:

1. Open surgery

2. Laparoscopy

In an open surgery an incision is made in the lower part of the abdomen and the infected tissues are surgically removed. This can be followed by washing the area with sterile liquid to avoid infection or pus. Muscle layers and then the skin are sewed back together.

A laparoscopic surgery on the other hand is a more advanced method which leaves no major scars. Small cuts are made through which a camera and operation- instruments are inserted. The surgeon views the images on the screen while operating.

Recovery varies from person to person, but a laparoscopic appendectomy operation heals faster. The patients are often released within 24-hours while some may be kept on mild medication. The diet will include only juices initially before the individual can start performing normal bodily activities.

With the advent of science, everybody has access to various medical products, aids, information and guidance from doctors as well as online medical professionals. One must make the most of these resources to live a healthier life.

Diet And Yeast Infection - Surviving Candidiasis

Suffering from a yeast infection? Following a yeast infection diet means living a healthier lifestyle. Toxins are flushed from the system by eliminating foods that promote the growth and overproduction of yeast.

Foods that are highly refined are desirable for this balanced diet. These foods usually produce toxins that combat the surviving microbes of candidiasis that are present in our body. Through this elimination process, the yeast will starve and die.

If left unchecked these infections can affect the digestive system specifically the stomach and the intestine. These sensitive areas of the body once attacked can become prone to further infections that will weaken the body further and cause serious health complications.

Certain types of foods like sweets, dairy and alcoholic beverages need to be restricted. Those types of food allow the yeast to multiply in the body. Try to also avoid frozen, packaged, and canned foods.

Drinking eight glasses of water a day is an excellent way to flush toxins out of your system. One can also eliminate the harmful toxins in the body through regular bowel movements.

Some of the foods allowed while on a yeast infection diet include organic foods rich in nutrients, fiber rich foods, and unprocessed foods. Vegetables are also desirable during a yeast infection diet. Foods like lettuces, garlic, sprouts, kale, cabbage, broccoli, celery, tomatoes and onions should also be incorporated into your diet. The reason these vegetables are allowed is because they are not easily broken down into sugar. Sugar is the main food source for yeast therefore if we eliminate sugar we'll eliminate yeast.

Many people struggle with a yeast free diet since they feel deprived of the foods they love and have eaten all of their lives. I know it's hard but please try and stick with the diet!! Not only will your yeast infection clear up but you'll begin to notice the many positive benefits of living a healthier lifestyle.

The entire process should take between 4 to 8 weeks. At first you may begin to develop more symptoms than you originally had when first starting the diet. Don't panic! This is due to the yeast in your body dying off and releasing the excess toxins into your system. Those symptoms will begin to clear up within the first week or so and from that point on you'll quickly be on the road to recovery.

Good luck and here's to a healthier tomorrow!

Complete Process of Biological Packaging

For protective transfer of crucial biological agents it is necessary to have an enhanced biological packaging process done under stringent standards. There are various forms of biological products which include infectious particles of plants, animals and humans as well as multiple types of toxins which are produced by genetic materials or microbes. Such organic agents may be present in concentrated and purified cultures but may also exist in plenty of distinct types such as body tissues, fluids, sample of soils, solid substances and more. No matter what the form is, it is essential to carry every product in secured form for which an effective packaging process is of utmost relevance.

The main purpose of any sort of packaging methodology is to protect the products which are being shipped from getting reacted with chemicals and toxic substances present in air. So only biological packaging which is framed under rigid standards must be considered by professionals. The packaging must be done in such a way and must be strong enough that it enables easy transportation of crucial elements through all means i.e. air, water or land. There are some products which require certain minimum temperature level even when they are transported in order to protect them from getting spoiled and unsuitable for use. So, even this factor must be considered while carrying the packaging process for these products.

The basic requirements for any type of biological packaging process are that it should be a 'triple packing' process. This implies that it should be primarily receptacle, must be strictly water tight packing as well as totally robust from outer arena. In addition to this, there must be an 'Infectious Substance' label on every product packed in order to protect individuals from getting in direct contact with it. It must be a certified packing methodology and meet all prior tests outlined for it in the USPS, DOT, IATA and PHS regulations. Only after all these functionalities are properly met, a packaging is considered ideal to be used for shipment purposes.

A 'triple' biological packaging process is also required for all clinical specimens. One additional fact however, with packaging of such products is that they must be able to fulfill all performance based examinations and that the packaging must not leak even after carrying a '4-drop test'. Even the items which are employed for packing these materials must be highly powerful and free from all kinds of ill-effects such as leakages, breakages. They must be totally air tight units. Only if the packaging is able to meet rigorous standards, rough handling and can provide protection to hazardous materials from all other toxin materials, it is considered as highly suitable.

Transportation of biological materials poses greater challenges in comparison to shipment of chemical based substances. For this reason, it becomes essential that these products must be packed with highly qualitative and effective packing techniques only. Bottles, vials, rollers, crimps, aluminum seals are some of the items which are used for this process. No matter what product is to be packed, the complete process of biological packaging for it must be done with due diligence.

Staying Cool All Summer Long

When the weather gets hot it's important to stay cool. A few ways to do this are:

Drink lots of water:

Drinking water is an essential component of survival, but never more so than the summer when we're sweating a good part of the day. Studies say that you should drink 2.5 litres of water per day. In hot weather it's advisable to always have a bottle with you. Drinking cold water is not only hydrating, but also refreshing and delicious, it cools down your insides and makes you feel clean again.

Killer shades:

Investing in a great pair of sunglasses this summer will not only make you look cool, but will keep your eyes protected from the harmful effects of the sun. Cheap sunglasses can make your face sweat and don't have the proper UV protective lenses, you're better off splurging for a good pair.

A sun hat:

If you're a guy, you might choose to wear a baseball cap or maybe a fedora. If you're a stylish woman, you might go for a straw sunhat. Sunhats are a great way to stay cool in the summer. They cover your head and shade your face. Moreover, they look super chic, especially when paired with a maxi dress or a caftan.

Brise soleils:

Brise soleils are permanent, architectural sun techniques. They are often found on the exterior walls of a building or on the roof. The most famous brise soleil in the world can be found on the Milwaukee Art Museum. It is a wing-like mechanism that was devised by Santiago Calatrava and popularised by Le Corbusier.

Popsicles and ice cream:

Don't allow yourself to be fooled: ice cream and Popsicles aren't just for children. Ever seen a man in a suit eating an ice cream cone on his lunch break? There's no image quite like it. Ice cream and Popsicles are a great way to stay cool and refreshed in the summer. Not to mention that they're delicious.

Swimming:

If you're lucky enough to live by a lake, ocean or swimming pool it would be an injustice not to take advantage of it. Grab some friends and make it an afternoon on the beach. Even just dipping your toes in can really cool you down.

Summer is here my friends. The sun is shining and people are out in the streets taking advantage of it while it lasts. Just make sure to protect your skin and stay cool.

How to Make Full Use of Flavorings

Not all people like the spicy taste of ginger, garlic and shallot. But they are indispensable flavorings. Some people would like to add some when they cook stir-fried food or soup in order to make dishes more delicious. However, people do not know that these three flavorings can save people's life if they are utilized in a scientific way. As a Chinese saying goes, making good use of them can reduce the risks of some diseases by 50%.

As early as ancient times, people began to use ginger, garlic and shallot in medicine care. For example, Confucius had the habit of eating ginger everyday to keep healthy. He once said that he could not live without ginger. But he did not eat much every time. Maybe, it was ginger that helped Confucius live so long a time.

Ginger is considered to be the aspirin in food. Research has indicated that there exists a peculiar substance, and the main ingredients of which are same with those of aspirin. Therefore, ginger is similar to aspirin in that it is able to dilute blood and cure pains, such as toothache. Doctors advise people to put a piece of ginger on aching parts when they have toothaches. Moreover, ginger plays an important role in improving immune system and promoting digestion. Doctors also say that ginger has the function of preventing people from the cold. During the early period of a cold, people can boil 30 grams of ginger together with shallot and cane sugar to ease the symptoms.

Garlic functions as a natural antibiotic. We all know that garlic is famous for its strong sterilization ability. When the particular alliin enters the blood, it would be converted into allicin, which can kill bacteria instantly. Therefore, people are suggested to eat some garlic at the turn of seasons to prevent intestinal infectious diseases. Though garlic does goods to health, excessive garlic would cause troubles. When garlic kills the pathogen in the intestines, it damages the beneficial bacteria at the same time. Thus, people are not advised to eat more than four petals of garlic at one time. People also should eat something else before they eat garlic. Those who get heart diseases, gastritis and gastric ulcer are not allowed to eat it at all.

Shallot serves as a wonderful blood vessel protector. Shallot provides abundant protein, fat, sugar and vitamins, such as vitamin A, vitamin B and vitamin C. Minerals like iron, calcium and magnesium can be easily found in shallot, too. All these substances are able to restrain bacteria and epiphytes. Besides, shallot is rich in fitoncidin. This chemical has a vascular relaxant function. Consequently, it is capable of preventing high blood pressure. More importantly, it can decompose protein and reduce the content of cholesterol in blood.

Did You Know That Sugar Can Be a Real Addiction?

We all know the feeling: that strong desire of something sweet hitting you mid-afternoon after a stressing day at work or at home or, that make you wake up at night and run to the refrigerator looking for a cookie, ice-cream or even a glass of milk... You didn't invent it. It is real in your mind and in your physical body... it is called an addiction...

The sugar addiction begins at birth. Human breast milk is very sweet, so even infants begin to recognize the pleasurable feeling they get from sweet foods. But once the body has experienced sugar's sweet rewards, it does not take much time for it to be officially addicted. Now what is the cause of it? After eating something sugary, the brain releases natural chemicals called opioids (doesn't ring any bell?), which give the body a feeling of pleasure. The brain then recognizes this feeling and begins to crave more of it. Researchers have identified that there are certain areas in the brain (specifically, the hippocampus, the insula and the caudate) that are activated when one craves sugar. There is also scientific evidence that shows that these same areas of the brain are activated when drug addicts crave drugs; which proves how "real" a sugar addiction can be. But what actually happens in your body when you consume sugar?

After sugar enters the bloodstream, blood sugar levels rise, causing the pancreas to release insulin that is needed to convert sugar into energy... The insulin converts the sugar into an instant energy source , which explains the jolt you get from a donut or a chocolate bar. After high levels of insulin are released, blood sugar levels begin to decrease rapidly, resulting in the "crash" you feel shortly after eating food containing high level of sugar,Insulin also stimulate the storage of fat when not too much energy is going to be used immediately afterward. Therefore if you eat a lot of sugar and you don't exercise immediately after... you are on the right path to gain weight... and will be fat and not the valuable muscle!,Sugar has also been linked to several "diseases, including increased mood swings, depressed immune system and diabetes.

Recent studies show that the opioids stimulated in your brain by sugar are similar to the chemicals stimulated by the use of heroin and morphine... scary enough? The same studies show that sugar also activates areas in the brain that reinforce behaviors. This means that, like heroin addiction, your body very soon learns to want more of the substance that makes it feel good and make you feel a real "need" of it. To prove this... , is it enough to say that brain scans performed on human subjects showed that the sight of ice cream in normal patients generated the same feelings of pleasure in the brain as images of crack pipes did for crack addicts? Again... very scary.

Now consider that the average American consumes around 160 pounds of sugar each year. This is no surprise when you consider that sugar is in everything from ketchup to salad dressing and canned soup to deli meat Sugar can be incorporated into many products under many aliases. Common names for sugar can include sucrose, fructose, dextrose, and high-fructose corn syrup, none of which actually sound like the word "sugar," but essentially mean the same thing.Nowadays there is an ongoing campaign against high fructose corn syrup, but if you substitute it with fructose of dextrose, you will have the same result... Better to read the whole label before trusting the words"No high-fructose corn syrup"put in evidence in a lot of products. Even if you have only one can of regular (non-diet) soda(not the King size), you are consuming nearly 10 teaspoons of sugar, which is, about, the maximum recommended daily allowance.Sugar does not give your body anything but a quick boost of energy and a lot of consequences.

Finally a good news: your body needs only 72 hours to get read of the addiction (as most of drugs)... So, when you start dieting seriously, you can expect the first 3 days to be really though, because your body will fight to maintain its sense of pleasure but after that... is mostly mental!

Water, The Elixir Of A Healthy Life

My parents continue to teach me. It seems you never grow out of that role of student with your parents. Lesson: good health and living a green lifestyle are closely linked.

I'm not saying that if you live a green life, eat whole and organic foods, exercise, and get lots of sleep that you'll always be healthy, but I am saying that you can hedge your bets with a few simple routines, and live a healthier life than if you ignore these routines.

Have you ever stopped to consider how infections and dehydration are related? Or how they impact your life, health, and sense of well-being? This is an invitation to stop and consider it. The lesson my parents just gave me was about the dangers of dehydration and infections, especially under-treated infections, and in seniors.

My Bigger Half and I went to visit Rock and No-Nonsense, and help host a family celebration. Upon arrival we learned No-Nonsense was suffering with vertigo, and a UTI (urinary tract infection). Because moving about was disorienting for No-Nonsense she wasn't drinking much water (think about the ramifications of both drinking the water, and the after effects if moving makes you nauseous). No amount of urging her to drink water made a change in her behavior. Not even her doctor could sway her determination to not drink much water!

Ok, fine, she "gets" to live her life her way, a hard lesson for this daughter to accept when she used to be the epitome of healthy habits. I even heard Rock mumble something under his breath about leading a horse to water, so I know I'm not the only one experiencing a bit of frustration here.

The second night of our visit Rock found No-Nonsense struggling unsuccessfully to get into bed, so he called me up to help. That's when we found her disoriented and not acting like herself. I changed from my daughter hat to my EMT hat and started asking her questions while waiting for My Bigger Half to bring the stethoscope and BP cuff up. A low blood pressure spurred Rock to call his medical office for advise, which fortunately agreed with what My Bigger Half and I had concluded: take her to the ER. We thought she was having a stroke.

After a battery of tests all we really know was that she wasn't having a stroke. What we concluded on our own is that between her infection (or infections) and dehydration, she was suffering from AMS -- Altered Mental Status. A fancy phrase to say she was confused, disoriented, and not herself.

In telling a few friends about this episode we started hearing similar stories about other seniors who suffered AMS from either infections or dehydration. I heard so many stories it hit me that this is a fairly common situation.

The simplified discussion I had with No-Nonsense was that it's vital to drink ample water during the day. "Ample" of course is subjective, and varies by location and situation. She felt the 18 oz of water she drank daily was ample, but the results of that practice, with the infection, showed otherwise to me. It's commonly accepted that 8 8-oz glasses a day is about right for most people. Through just normal living you output about 10-10.5 cups of water/day. Your food provides about 20 percent of your liquid requirements, so the balance comes from what you drink. I'm not going to get into the discussion right now about whether just any ol' liquid counts towards water replacement, but I am going to take the stance that the healthiest approach is to drink two liters of water daily.

I went on to explain to No-Nonsense that when you don't drink enough water your blood gets thick. Thick blood strains the heart because it has to work harder to push that thicker liquid through your veins. And thick blood doesn't carry as much oxygen, depriving your brain and heart of the much needed oxygen they require for healthy function. Thick, deoxygenated blood is hard on all of your internal and external organs. Drinking water also helps the body heal from the infection by flushing out their toxins.

Signs and symptoms of dehydration include diarrhea, dry mouth, dry eyes, headache, hearth palpitations, muscle cramps, nausea, not sweating, shriveled skin, stinging during urination, thirst, and vomiting. In severe dehydration you start to see confusion and weakness, moving toward coma and death if not corrected.

You can do a few simple tests yourself to try to diagnose dehydration. Check the person's orientation, vital signs, temperature, and skin responses. Orientation for adults means asking questions, assuming they are awake, that will help you judge how aware they are of their surroundings. Checking muscle tone for infants and seniors, listlessness, as well as how awake, alert, and oriented the person is, are also part of testing you can do. For infants, check the fontanel (the soft spot at the top of their head) to see if it's sunken, an indication of dehydration.

You may not have the tools to take a blood pressure, but you can take a pulse; a racing pulse, or at least one that's faster than normal, can be a sign of dehydration. And skin responses are also telling; elastic skin is hydrated skin (lightly grab a bit of skin between your fingers and let go; if the skin "tents" for several seconds the person is dehydrated). Dehydrated skin may also feel warm.

Dehydration also throws off electrolytes. That aggravates muscle weakness and heart disrhythmia, and can stress the kidneys as they strive to compensate for the electrolyte imbalance. The elderly and the young are especially at risk for dehydration.

Now, about infection and how it fits into this lesson I was given. Advanced age, staying still for a long time, and being a woman increased the chance of No-Nonsense getting a UTI. Infections can contribute to confusion, or altered mental status. Oh, by the way, some of the liquids you should avoid if you have a UTI are caffeine and alcohol. And when you have an infection you should drink plenty of fluids. In fact, drinking plenty of fluids daily helps reduce the chance for a UTI. Aha! There's the getting plenty of liquids topic again.

OK, back to the elixir of a healthy life part of this article. I'm a strong advocate of drinking filtered (not bottled) water from glass or stainless steel containers. Lots of it. I think it has magical qualities.

By lots I mean at least two liters every day. People who are in hot climates or are active should drink more than two liters to replace the water lost from the heat or due to the exercising. If you start that practice now you will be in the habit by the time you become a senior (a moving target to say the least).

Staying hydrated will help your body maintain a healthy body, one that will fight germs. Ample water in your system will help all of your organs, from your skin to your heart and brain, to your digestive organs, stay healthy, vital and working well.

When you get sick, be sure to keep drinking lots of fluids to help your body heal. Pay attention to your mental status too. If you notice that you aren't quite yourself get to a doctor or the emergency room.

We can discuss which fluids count toward your two liter per day consumption later. You can't go wrong with pure water, though. Here's to your good health through green living!

Fruit As Aphrodisiac?

I live here in Davao City and it is located here in the Philippines. Its an island nation located in the south east Asian region. My hometown is known for the fruit claimed to be an aphrodisiac by those people who have eat this. This fruit is called Durian which is also known as the king of fruits in south east Asia.

First, lets have a little overview about this fruit. The fruit called Durian by appearance is large and its husk is covered with thorns so it is very important to handle it with care to prevent injury to yourself. Inside the fruit has chambers with seeds covered with rich and creamy light yellow flesh (pulp) and each fruit would have varying numbers of pulp depending on the size. Next, this fruit also has strong odor which has contradicting effects to people. Some people are entice by its odor while others despise it especially to those people who have first encounter with the fruit. Its odor is so intense that bringing this fruit is prohibited in hotels, hospitals and other public places in some Asian countries. Lastly, this fruit has a rich and mild sweet buttery taste that no other fruit can be compared to. To people who have first tried eaten this fruit will have an impression that "its smells like hell but taste like heaven".

Now that this fruit has been introduced, lets now focus on to the main topic. Does this fruit really have an aphrodisiac effect? A lot of people that I know in my hometown that consumes Durian during its harvesting season especially in the month of August states that it really has an aphrodisiac effect. After consuming this fruit, they said that they feel that their body warms up and as they eat more and more, their body heat increases to the extent that some experiences excessive sweating while others even take a bath just to cool down their body temperature. In Indonesia, their people even has a saying called durian jatuh sarung naik or "the Durians fall and the sarongs comes up". Sarong by the way is a clothing which is a long tube of fabric that is often wrapped around the waist and worn as a kilt by men and as a skirt by women. So you probably get the idea what will happen to men who eat this fruit.

Other benefits from the fruit is that it provides a great deal of carbohydrates, proteins and fats so it is a good source of energy which is practically great in heated situations wherein a great deal energy is use by couples. It is also rich in Vit. C, potassium and tryptophan which is an essential amino acid needed by our body. For me, Durian is a very interesting fruit. Once you tried eating one pulp then you will get hooked and end up eating the all the pulps of the Durian fruit and demands for more. Unfortunately, the aphrodisiac effect of Durian is still not proven since no scientific studies that could back up this effect are present nowadays. I would highly suggest to people curious about this fruit to try this and to prove if it really indeed has aphrodisiac effect but be very careful if you have diabetes or hypertension since this can spike up your blood glucose levels and blood pressure if eaten excessively.

Illness Knows No Season: Common Causes For Nausea, Vomiting And Diarrhea

It may seem that certain illnesses only occur during certain seasons, like hay fever in the spring and fall, and the flu, in all its incarnations in the winter. The reality is that most illnesses that have as its symptoms nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, are for the most part viruses that can be around at any given time of the year. By learning more about what can cause these three symptoms, you will be able to forestall it happening to you by taking some very simple precautions.

Common Symptoms

Whenever someone claims to be feeling under the weather, even if they feel just a little sick, more often than not they will be sharing the same symptoms as someone suffering from food poisoning, stomach flu or even some allergic reactions. There are some people who will be healthy all year round, but once they go on vacation, to a new environment, they will fall ill. Like we said, the majority of these cases are viral based, caused by common bacteria and viruses that can strike without warning, no matter what time of year it is.

While most of these maladies share the same top three symptoms, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, you may also show some of the following classic symptoms, depending on the severity of your ailment: stomach pain, headaches, and even dizziness. Should any of these symptoms crop up, we recommend that you seek medical aid as soon as possible. Ignoring symptoms like these for too long can lead to dehydration, or something far more serious.

Common Causes

The most common viral infection that can strike at any moment is known as gastroenteritis, or the stomach flu. It has all the earmarks of the common flu but one symptom in particular is more virulent with this condition: diarrhea. Diarrhea occurs the intestines push the buildup of stool in your body out before the water that naturally occurs during this process can be reabsorbed. When this happens, you will have chronic watery stool, most times accompanied by a fever, vomiting, abdominal cramps and nausea.

During some seasons, especially summer, the chance of your coming down with food poisoning or some other bacteria based illness increases, mostly due to our increased use of water. We swim more, drink more, and eat more things that we normally do not include in our diet. One particular bacterium, the E. Coli bacteria, is especially active during this time of year. Anyone carrying the bacteria on their hands, hair or body can transmit it quite easily, especially if they have recently handled fecal matter, like changing a baby's diaper. Most outbreaks center around public swimming pools in the U.S. and unfiltered or untreated water systems in foreign countries.

Treatment options

The truth of the matter is, should you come down with the stomach flu, or any other viral or bacterial based illness, there is no real course of treatment that can be done for you other than keeping you hydrated and on as bland a diet as possible to give your stomach time to rally and heal. In fact, there are a lot of over-the-counter medicines, as well as antibiotics that can make your condition worse instead of better. Best to listen to your doctor for instructions on at home therapy.

Liquids are very important during this time. Because your body has not had time to reabsorb the water from processing stool, you are losing vital liquids you body needs to survive with every movement. Not to mention all that you lose whenever you vomit. It is recommended that you stick to sucking on ice chips or small sips of water or flat soda.

The BRAT diet

Very simply, the best diet for recovering from nausea, vomiting and diarrhea is the BRAT diet: Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. This diet will not irritate your stomach. Instead it keeps the proteins and other nutrients you need coming and help to reduce stomach acid. If it is a child who is sick, remember that what is good for an adult may not be for a child, so check with your pediatrician first. Avoid dairy, fried, spicy and citrus foods for a while, and no caffeine or alcohol.

Docere - The Basis for a Profession

Long before the introduction of the Healthcare Reform Bill (and regardless of whether or not it succeeds), the way in which doctors and patients interact has been changing. Years ago (long before I started practicing medicine), if you went to a doctor with a problem, you were told what to do - and you did it. No questions asked. There was no "informed consent", no discussion of the risks and benefits of a particular medication or procedure. To the best of a patient's knowledge, the doctor knew everything there was to know about the human body, and everything that could go wrong with it. How could one possibly question anything he said?

Jump to 2011. If I haven't explained what I'm doing, why I'm doing it, the risks involved, and any alternative treatments (if available) - otherwise known as "informed consent" - I am breaking the law. New medical findings are published daily - many times reported in the lay press (i.e., Morning News programs) or, even faster, on the internet, before there is even a chance for the medical community to figure out the implications. Many of these changes are for the better, some not so much (the internet is full of incorrect, or at least incomplete, medical information). But the bottom line is the same - the days of telling patients what to do, without question, were over long before I became a doctor.

I was reminded recently, through a friend's medical blog, the meaning of the word "Doctor". Doctor comes from the Latin "docere", which means "to teach". Being a physician is, in large part, about teaching patients to understand their bodies, the medical issues affecting them, and helping them to understand the treatments offered. It is my job to take all the medical facts that I have learned, process them, organize them, filter out the irrelevant, apply them to the particular problem at hand, reinterpret into a form which may be understood by somebody who, in most cases, is not a physician, and communicate that information successfully - all teachers must do the same. No doctor or teacher I know goes through this step-by-step every time a decision needs to be made. With practice, it becomes automatic. But any way you look at it, it is an incredible process, and a responsibility which cannot be taken lightly.

I said earlier that teaching the patient is a "large part" of what being a doctor means. But that is not the only teaching that occurs. It is very easy to forget, with the responsibility we are given, that in order to provide the best care, we must allow ourselves to be taught. The best teachers of any subject, in my experience, are those who involve the student in the teaching, and adjust the method of instruction to fit the student. Most importantly, a teacher must recognize that no matter how much one knows about a particular subject, more can always be learned. Physicians are no exception.

The Physician-Patient Relationship is not, nor should it be, a one-way street. Of course, there are going to be situations in which the doctor needs to dictate the care because the patient is physically unable to participate in decision-making (i.e., life-threatening emergencies or during surgery once the patient is asleep). It is also reasonable to assume that any teacher should know and understand the subject matter more thoroughly than the student. But in most doctor-patient interactions, both sides can, and should, contribute. Tell the doctor if something doesn't make sense to you. Tell the doctor if a medication or treatment being prescribed has caused you trouble, or has already failed, in the past. In other words, "teach" the doctor about you. It's the only way he or she can be sure you're getting appropriate treatment.

Do Not Ignore Breakfast

In modern life, because of the busy work, people begin to pay less and less attention to breakfast. There are even a lot of people who always go to work without having breakfast. In fact, breakfast is the most important meal during the whole day. If you do not eat breakfast for a long-term, it may cause serious harms on the body.

First of all, it may make you fat. Many people think that if they don't eat breakfast, it can help them reduce weight. In fact, such an idea is not correct. According to nutrition scientists, even if you do not eat breakfast, it still can not promote the consumption of fat, because once the human body realizes nutrition deficiency, it will firstly consume carbohydrates and protein, but not fat. What's worse, if you don't eat breakfast, it will make you eat more food at lunch, which will cause difficulty in digestion and absorption. In such a case, the excessive fat will be accumulated in the body and gradually make you fat.

Secondly, it will lead to constipation. If you eat three meals regularly every day, the human body will naturally form gastrocolic reflex, which is beneficial to the detoxification of the body. On the contrary, if you always do not have breakfast, it may cause disorders of gastrocolic reflex, and then lead to constipation. If the body can not expel of the toxins, the excessive toxins will accumulate inside the body, and then lead to many symptoms such as acne.

Thirdly, it will make people easily grow old. Breakfast plays an important role in providing the energy and nutrients needed by human body during the whole day. If you don't eat breakfast, the human body has to consume the glycogen and protein which are stored in the body. As time passes, it will cause the skin dryness, wrinkle and anemia, and accelerate human aging. If it is serious, it can even cause nutritional deficiency.

Last but not the least, it may make people vulnerable to chronic diseases. If you don't eat breakfast, the stomach will be in hungry condition for a long time, which can easily cause gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis and gastric ulcer. What's more, it can make the blood platelet easily stick together, thus increasing the probability of heart disease.

From what we have discussed above, we can see that breakfast is really important in our life. As a result, for your health and longevity, please pay great attention to breakfast.

I've Got To Do My Cardio - Or Do I?

Cardiovascular training has been the poster girl of every good exercise regimen for the last 50 years or so. Just go to any local gym and the sheer volume of chrome cardiovasuclar equipment on display is astonishing. Gone are the days when a gym member had a choice between a treadmill or a bike, we now have rowing machines, cross trainers, stair climbers, arm cycle machines, rope climb machines, cardio skiing machines …the list goes on and on.

Its no suprise that the average new member of gym is daunted by the array of cardiovascular equipment on display! But will we ever need to cycle with our hands? Will we ever climb an endless flight of stairs? Or are these machines here to entice us to part with our cash?

Healthclubs and Gyms are desperate to keep members happy. Keep them entertained and keep them paying. Thats why they invest in the latest "Bun Blaster 5000"

"But Ben we need to do our cardio training right? We need to burn calories and improve our cardio vascular conditioning by putting ourselves through a boring 45 - 60 minute constant low boring slog on the treadmill whilst watching last weeks Eastenders dont we? "

But what if its just been a long running scam (Pardon the pun)

Now first off I want to state straight away that any gym program needs to include some cardio vascular training. I just think the way we have been told to do it isn't working.

I worked at 2 large healthclubs for over 4 years before I started my own business and I saw the same people come in at the same time of day, every day and do the same workout, and I saw those same people never lose any weight or get any fitter.

"Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" - Albert Einstein

Every single one of those members (with no exception) Spent around 40 - 45 mins+ on various cardiovascular machines. Around 20% of them would then spend 5-10 minutes on various different weight training machines. Sound familiar? I can honestly say that the workout I have just described, in my experience, accounts for over 80% of all gym members.

"Gotta do my cardio!"

"Hows that working out for you?"

The human body is an explosive animal. A typical example of this is the fight or flight response. When perceived to be in danger of some kind the body releases a hormone "Rush" that tightens the muscles and sharpens the senses. The body prepares to either stand and fight or sprint away and jump into the nearest tree. It doesn't prepare to run at 60% of our max heart rate for 40 minutes plus.

Heres another example. Prehistoric man is walking through the woods and See's a rabbit "I could do with eating some rabbit right about now, I'll chase him at a slow steady pace for 60 minutes+ before he falls overs with exhaustion"

or

"Hey theres a rabbit, wheres a heavy stone I can throw at him"

Our body responds better to explosive brief intense workouts that more correctly mirror what the human body has been doing for the past couple of thousand years. Glitzy cardio machines are a new invention and our body is not built for using them. Need further proof?

Cortisol is a hormone our body releases at times of stress. E.g arguing with someone, suffering lack of sleep, stepping out in front of a bus, being woken up by the alarm in the morning etc etc

Its a vital hormone, we need it!

However there is a problem.

During times of stress the 'Sympathetic' nervous system is in full swing, thats when the cortisol is released in to the blood

During times of relaxation the ' Para symaphetic' nervous system is in action, this allows us to relax and flush out all of the stress hormones from our body.

The problem is that in our 'High Stress lifestyles' once we get into stress mode we find it very hard to get out of it. Work stress plus relationship stress, plus lack of sleep plus alcohol stress etc etc stops us from relaxing. This is when Cortisol becomes the bad guy…..

Impaired cognitive performance
Suppressed thyroid function
Blood sugar imbalances such as hyperglycemia
Decreased bone density
Decrease in muscle tissue
Higher blood pressure
Lowered immunity and inflammatory responses in the body, slowed wound healing, and other health consequences
Increased abdominal fat, which is associated with a greater amount of health problems than fat deposited in other areas of the body. Some of the health problems associated with increased stomach fat are; heart attacks, development/higher rates of "metabolic syndrome" cholesterol (LDL) and lower levels of "good" cholesterol (HDL), which can lead to other health problems!

These are all effects of excessive cortisol secretion. Now see why half killing yourself on a treadmill might not be such a good idea?

Your body needs to learn how to de-stress itself naturally, how to lose weight without losing your mind doing endless cardiovascular exercise, how to increase life expectancy (And running shoe life expectancy)

Long slow distance/duration cardio is not the answer for the majority of people, I only recommend it for endurance athletes. Full stop.

Take the guess work out of your exercise and hire a personal trainer who gets results.

How To Lift Boxes Without Hurting Yourself

Always lift from the knees...

The most common injuries people receive in the workplace and at home are always to do with the back. Your back is a key part of your body as you use the many muscles in it for just about every movement, so when it gets damaged you will really notice. A back injury can be seriously debilitating and can lead on to further health issues, so it is really important to avoid hurting it if you can.

One of the most common ways people hurt their backs is by failing to lift something heavy like a box the correct way. Lifting the wrong way can put enough strain on your back that you can pull or even tear a muscle and that's when it really hurts.

So how do you lift a box without hurting yourself?

Check It Before Hand

Before you even attempt to lift the box you need to take a moment to check that it isn't going to be too heavy. Try pushing the box with your hand. If you have to use a lot of strength to move it then it is possibly just too heavy and you should get help. If it isn't too heavy, you should also check to see that the box is held together properly and that nothing is going to fall out the top, bottom or sides, as this may cause you lose balance.

Stretch

You may feel a bit silly doing it but to help prepare your body for lifting heavy objects it is best to stretch off first. Stretch your neck, back, arms, shoulders and your legs to cover all bases.

Where to Lift It

Find where the best place is to grip the box or whatever type of packaging supplies you are lifting. Handles or proper holes in the side of cardboard boxes are ideal, but if it is a solid cube try to make sure you can fit your arms all the way round it. If you can't, get someone to help you. If you can get your arms round it, position one hand on the far corner and the other on the near side of the other side.

Lift it Slowly

When you have a good grip, get as close to cardboard box as you can and hold it tight to your body. Also, get as low as you can so that you are not leaning over the box. Now you are ready to lift. Do so by keeping your back straight and lifting with your knees. Don't be tempted to arch your back or to twist while lifting and keep your back straight the whole time you have it in your hands.

Reverse this process for putting it down and hey presto! a safely lifted and put down box with no damage done to your precious back.

Sam Qam is a removal expert. He has moved over a million cardboard boxes in his time and has developed an acute obsession with bubble wrap and other packaging supplies.

Encourage Your Child To Dance To Give Them A Head Start In Life

Awareness of health and fitness is an essential part of the education many parents feel should be nurtured in children. Whilst many parents will be happy to allow this to be taught by teachers in physical educations (PE) lessons, others will take a more active approach. There are different methods that may be applied; walking your children to school is a good start and helps them to make an active outdoor start in life, however this is unlikely to create the steely resolve needed in later life for people to continue caring for their health when alternative modes of transport are available.

Other parents will encourage their children to take part in sports such as football, after school activities, Sunday football clubs and similar activities. Such activities help children to learn essential social and fitness skills, but unless the child is dedicated or truly enthusiastic, many will once again fail to use these skills in later life.

For a child to be truly imbued with an interest in exercise not only do they need to start this at an early age, they also need to be taught an activity that fully captures their imagination, something about which they can fully enthuse and for which they will develop a real love.

Learning to dance is a great way to achieve this. Dancing is more than a fun activity, it's something that will encourage them to learn about their health and physical fitness, it can be competitive, and it is also something that will teach them dedication and discipline. Teaching a child to dance isn't just something they have to slog at, it's something they will find genuinely entertaining, and the child will grow to love this activity. Being a good dancer is something that can easily be drawn from in later life, be it in fun dancing activities such as salsa clubs, or just a trip to a local nightclub. It also helps them to learn manners and communication skills, meaning your child will grow up as a well mannered, energetic positive individual.

But how do you go about teaching a child to dance? Simply playing music and encouraging them to express themselves may be a start; however with reduced participants this option does not help them to engage with other people, a process that will help them to develop their personal and social interaction skills. It is better to enrol them in groups and classes with other children of their own age; this will help them to learn how to work with others, introduce essential communication and team building skills, and will also help them get a great start in life so they are fun, outgoing and able to engage with others later on in life.

Obviously, as with adult lessons, children's dance lessons can use different types of dances and different styles of music. Contemporary music such as free-style and hip-hop is a great way to build up enthusiasm and make the entire process fun. More formal styles such as Latin and ballroom can help with discipline. Often a good approach is to provide a balance, teaching different styles.

Dancing lessons for children are available in many different venues, ranging from community centres to formal lessons from professional dance tutors in dance studios.

Sustainability of the Biopharmaceuticals Packaging Is Possible

In the vast pharmaceutical industry, medications are available in different forms which are solid, liquid and also powdered. It is, therefore, essential to ensure that their packing is the best. The fact that further needs a concern is that every form requires a special and different type of packaging. Sustainability is an essential issue but in case of biopharmaceutical packaging safety is the main concern rather than being environment friendly. The packaging of pharmaceutical products require to follow excellent process of manufacturing, providing consistent quality, protection to the product and also resistant to the children. Sustainability requires following an approach that is eco-friendly, technical and social. There are some tips which can be followed to ensure sustainability of the packaging.

1. Understand the needs of the customers and then find a solution to fulfill their requirements and also the goals of the manufacturing process. These include efficiency of the process, branding, usage by the customers and also its relevance for the market. Thus, it is essential to find where it is necessary to make changes in the packaging. These can be to make packages light in weight, strong structured, ensured protection of the product and also ready for the machine.

2. During the designing method, efficiency is a major issue throughout biopharma packaging. It reduces hazardous effect on the environment. An example is, in case of prefilled packages of the medication they provide benefits to the consumers, pharmacists and also environment. This packaging thus speeds up the handling procedure and saves time to attend the consumer. A rigid and strong packaging implies that there is no further need for the additional material to be used for the shipping of products such as corrugated boxes. The first and second step of packaging should be completed in one step for the drugs at a single location only. It will lead to save cost as well as energy.

3. With the advancement in research and technology new opportunities are rising to bring sustainability in the biopharm packaging. This technical advancement involves the use of smart applications for packaging. They can be those that can record, use light and sound during communication with customer and transmit the data at the right time. Such developments can enhance the current design as well as the supply chain process.

4. A packaging that is well designed should be used for the current equipment. The equipments can be further enhanced to run efficiently and with more flexibility.

5. A streamlined transportation is like a carbon footprint. One must reduce the extra weight of the package, avoid any kind of tertiary packaging and also optimize the shipping route. Blister packages, a type of packaging are delivered in fully loaded form for the immediate distribution to the pharmacists. They can be stacked easily, stored and dispatched in more efficient manner.

A socially sustainable pharmaceutical biological packaging is the one that reflects the safety and effectiveness and also increases the patient's adherence to the medication. Taking an instance, the convenience blister packages remind patients to take medicines at right time thus eliminating omission. Increased adherences lead to better health and large outcome for the industry. This way it gets easy for the sustainability and biopharmaceuticals packaging to go together.

Robust Leak Resistant Bottles for Easy Shipment

For packaging, storing and shipping of biological serums as well as other essential medicinal products there is one necessary device always required - Leak resistant bottles. There are multiple types of bottles and units which can be used for shipping products from one place to another, but when it comes to biological serums shipment then it becomes vital to make use of leak proof bottles only. This is because these devices are naturally crafted with highly durable materials such as Polypropylene and HDPE. These two materials possess powerful strength and are robust in nature which makes them totally leak proof and suitable for shipping essential serums.

These highly defined leak resistant bottles are prepared with opaque amber which is fully formulated with HDPE mechanism. Due to this type of structure they are considered ideal to be used for light sensitive purposes. In addition to this, there are multiple colorants used for preparing these bottles which are fully based on CONEG regulations. Almost all such colorants are under FDA approval which makes them strong, hard and completely suitable to be used for transmitting all kinds of substances. Their high resistance power makes them ideal for both liquid as well as dry fills. So no matter what kind of substance is to be shipped, these bottles can be used to transfer it safely.

In order to provide high leak resistance to these devices, they are manufactured with liner less closures. Introduction of such closures in these bottles provide them with totally secured design. All such closures used within these leak resistant bottles are made with radiation grade Polypropylene. In order to provide easy shipment solutions, these closures are packed separately and are included within the bottles. In addition to these closures, molded beads for transferring are used along with a shrinkage band in order to make transmission and storing of serum much easier. Clean and safe dispensing mechanism is provided by it through its no-drip pouring lip.

Reduction in particulate is caused within these units by providing them with double bagged twisted as well as tied structures. In order to make sure that the serum which is being shipped is totally sterilized and free from all kinds of irregularities, a complete process of sterilization through gas filter and irradiation is used. Moreover, it is also made to go through a disinfectant methodology so as to make the substances free from all kinds of ill-effects. The best part about leak resistant bottles is that they are highly strong in structure and for this reason can be easily used for shipping dry substances as well. Moreover, there is no specific temperature required to carry these bottles which makes shipment of biological products even more convenient.

There are plenty of online stores which supply high quality of this biological product. When buying from such outlets, the only thing which individuals should keep in mind is to look for strong and original leak resistant bottles only. This is necessary for easy as well as safe shipment of essential biological substances.

The Avocado: It's Not Just For Guacamole

The avocado has achieved enormous popularity over the years. In the United States avocado consumption is about 2.5 lbs. yearly per capita, which translates to a robust 750 million pounds. Although Super Bowl Sunday accounts for five per cent, or 37,000,000 lbs. of America's annual consumption of avocados, it is quite fair to say, it isn't all guacamole. In fact, the uses of the avocado fruit (yes, like the tomato, it is a fruit) provide an enormous spectrum of applications. The nutrients, vitamins and other compounds that make up the avocado and its oils have long been used in a variety of ways by many cultures in the Western Hemisphere. Although the avocado is generally regarded as mostly a food and food additive, its ingredients provide healing, curative, soothing and enhancing properties that are very unique.

Avocados are chock full of nutrients. They contain large amounts of vitamin B, vitamin C and vitamin E; they are cholesterol and sodium free, and they have more potassium per ounce than bananas. Note that these are just some of the dietary properties of avocados. All parts of the avocado plant, bark, leaves, fruit and seeds are richly infused with vitamins and essential properties that have many medicinal uses.

It is generally believed the avocado tree is native to Peru and was originally cultivated in the Peruvian Andes several thousand years ago. The Mayan civilization recognized the benefits that avocados provided. Over the span of many generations the avocado plant branched out across Central America, particularly to the Incas of Guatemala and Aztecs of Mexico, and into North America. Spanish conquistadors referred to the fruit as alligator pears because of the skin color and texture. Many of them brought the fruit back to Europe and avocados are now cultivated world-wide, predominantly in Spain, Israel and South Africa.

The herbal and medicinal uses for avocados are infinite and have been developed, refined, tested and studied over many hundreds of years. They contain so many vitamins, nutrients and minerals that are used as effective remedies and cures that it would take (has taken) volumes to enumerate them all. That said, I would be remiss if I did not mention at least some of the most important properties and medicinal uses of the avocado plant.

The avocado is one of the most effective anti-oxidant fruits in the world. In particular, its high levels of oleic acid offer protection against heart disease, strokes and even cancer. Avocado oil has long been used to treat skin ailments. Recent research has revealed that avocados possess a chemical that stimulates the synthesis of collagen when applied to the skin. This treatment revitalizes the skin, giving it a young, fresh look. So it's no wonder that avocado oil is one of the most essential ingredients in producing many of our skin soaps, lotions and creams.

Craig Boggs invites you to visit http://www.henleynatural.com/ to shop for natural soap. Our soaps are made with quality natural ingredients in small batches to guarantee freshness. If you have sensitive skin and prefer unscented soaps, you will love our avocado oil soap.

What to Eat for IBS to Improve Digestion Naturally: 7 Tips

Deciding what to eat when you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome can be tremendously confusing.

There's no one list of foods that works for everybody, but there are principles to follow that will help you prevent digestive distress naturally and have a more comfortable life.

Here are seven tips on what to eat for IBS:

1) Drink plenty of pure water. Chemicals in tap water can interfere with good digestion. If you are drinking tap water and you're NOT filtering it, at least do this...

Pour a pitcher of tap water and let it stand for an hour to evaporate the chlorine. Drinking chlorine-free water makes life a lot easier for your sensitive digestive system. Adding mineral drops to drinking water will give you added nutrition that is easy to absorb.

2) Take essential fatty acids (EFA's.) These vital nutrients are needed for good digestion AND for brain function. They help your mental functioning as well as your emotional balance. So take small amounts of flax oil, fish oil, or balanced omega oil at one or more meals. Or sprinkle ground flax seeds on your serving of soup, cereal, or veggies. But don't cook EFA-rich oils and seeds! Cooking destroys the nutrients.

Cooked fats, especially animal fats, are one of the hardest foods to digest. Dr. D.S. Khalsa says they also stimulate the production of cholecystokin, a hormone that makes the colon go into contractions - i.e. spasms. So watch out for the animal fats and anything deep-fried.

3) The right kind of fiber helps both constipation and diarrhea. This is one of the most important aspects of what to eat for IBS.

To soothe the intestines, eat foods containing soluble fiber at the beginning of a meal. Soluble fiber is found in oatmeal, peeled apples, bananas, mango, papaya, winter squash, most root vegetables, white rice, mushrooms, avocado, and several other foods.

On the other hand, whole grains and leafy green vegetables contain insoluble fiber which acts like a broom, whisking out the intestines to clear away toxins. You need the nutrients in these foods too, but when there are digestive problems, eat the soluble fiber foods first to get your gut ready for the other foods. And when you're under a lot of stress, focus on the soluble fiber foods since the INsoluble ones may be too much to handle temporarily.

4) Take digestive enzymes, especially if you eat a lot of cooked and processed foods. Heating and processing destroy many of the enzymes that help you to digest and absorb your food. Look for a broad spectrum enzyme that includes bile.

5) Take probiotics. Drugs such as antibiotics and pain killers kill off many of the helpful bacteria in your intestines, contributing to gas and digestive discomfort. To combat this and restore your bacterial balance, take a good probiotic supplement. Don't rely on yogurt - even the "enhanced" versions do not provide enough active bacteria to be effective.

6) Avoid dairy products. Even if you are not lactose intolerant, you may not be able to digest the protein in milk products. Dairy is the top food allergen and one of the most common causes of digestive distress. Dr. D. Dahlman believes it's the most important food group to leave OFF your list of what to eat for IBS.

Will you have problems with osteoporosis if you leave out milk and dairy? No. A Harvard University study of 78,000 women found that the women who consumed two daily glasses of milk - or their equivalent - were 40 percent more prone to fractures than those who consumed less!

7) Watch out for unsuspected food sensitivities. Dr. James Braly says one out of three people have digestive and other health problems because of wheat and grain-based foods such as pasta, cereal, bread and other flour products.

Other typical trouble foods are citrus, peanuts, caffeine, chocolate (especially avoid this if you are prone to diarrhea), sugar, artificial sweeteners, and foods containing additives and preservatives. Any or all of these can contribute to tummy and bowel problems. Sensitivity testing or an elimination diet will show you which foods are worst for you.

Of course, deciding what to eat for IBS is only one aspect of dealing with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. There's much more to IBS than food choices and it's important to use a "whole person" approach for the best results in controlling IBS.
